September like May is a popular month for travelers to visit Cyprus because we have an average of 12 hours sunshine sunny days. We gain a lot of travelers without children as flights to cyprus are cheaper out of summer holidays and the weather in Cyprus in September in Protaras, Ayia Napa, Pernera & Kapparis is an average of 25c with highs of 30c and lows of 19c. September in general isnt a month that attracts a lot of rain with an average of 7.1mm of rain and 1 day. Its a welcome relief from the July and August heat to be in September sunshine.

Sea Temperatures

Beaches are open throughout the month of September and tend not to be so crowded as Peek months. Any of the out of the way coves, like Firemans Beach and Ayia Triada beach are also popular hideouts. The average sea temperature in September is 28c.

Many of the beaches in Cyprus have the blue flag awards.

Things to do in Cyprus in September

There is an abundance of tourist attractions open in September and we have full lists throughout our site, such as water sports, beach’s, boat trips, historic sites. If you want to get out of the sun or there is a slight rainy day we would suggest a day bowling in Paralimni, the cinema in Larnaca, the Thallasa Museum in Ayia Napa, Ocean Aquarium as well as cafes, restaurants and bars open from morning to night. The aquarium is part inside, part outdoors but again a different day out and all of our holiday rental villas and apartments have indoor entertainment.

Packing for the weather in Cyprus in September

Pack your summer wear and forget the rain jackets! Shorts, swimsuits, dresses and flip flops. We would recommend you bringing a hat and loose short sleeve T.shirt (if you get burnt you will be able to put this on in the day to protect you- also a good idea for children). I would pack some light weight trousers / linen encase you feel a bit chilly at night and light cardigans.

Renting holidays villas in Cyprus in September

Its always nice to know that when the weather in August in Cyprus is really hot you definitely need the airconditioning, in September it is sometimes nice to not need that option, many of our villas and apartments are equipped with fly screens and ceiling fans to give you a choice in May. For cooler evenings, there are blankets available and the airconditioning also turns to heating if required.

Locations that are open in Cyprus in September

All of the summer holiday resorts in Cyprus are open in September including Pernera, Kapparis, Protaras and Ayia Napa. You can expect places to open around the middle / end of April and be opening or already open by May. Areas such as Paralimni & Kapparis are all year round resorts.

September is a beautiful time of year for a wedding, it will still be warm so make sure to dress appropriately however, humidity tends to be slightly less and there may be a nice summer breeze. Fans and something to dab your skin with are still on the packing list.
